About Me

famdamilyGreetings! My name is Jonathan and I am a husband, a father, a licensed marriage and family therapist, and clinical director of the Online Center for Couples and Families. I’m available for webcam therapy sessions if you’d like my help, or for in-person sessions if you live in Southern Utah. I have experienced the pain of losing a loved one, the struggles of dating, and the challenges and joys of marriage, parenthood, and blended families.
With regards to my professional background, I hold a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Auburn University and a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology from Brigham Young University. I’ve worked with at-risk teens as a mentor and therapist, was a counselor for persons struggling with mental illness in Southern Utah, and now run my own private practice.
.
I moonlight as a film critic, having written entertainment pieces for Meridian Magazine since 2008. I have a weekly segment about classic and overlooked films on The KJZZ Movie Show, and authored the film guide 250 Great Movies for Latter-day Families. In high school and college I dabbled in acting, both on stage (with BYU’s Divine Comedy) and in various films.
.

I enjoy working with clients of all backgrounds and respect their worldviews and beliefs. If you think I might be a good fit as your therapist, please contact me via email at jdeckertherapy@gmail.com or call me at (435) 215-6113.
